A statement signed by Dantata & Sawoe’s managing director, U. Heaidschuster, said they can not field a team for the match.

“We regret sincerely to inform you that due to reasons beyond our control, it will not be possible for us to field our team the final on May 1st or any other date whatsoever. You may be assured of our full support for the match.’’

Meanwhile the local organizing committee of the championship has resolved that Setraco Nigeria limited football club which finished third during preliminary stage of the competition should play Julius Berger FC in the final, based on FIFA rules.

According to the organizing committee chairman, Comrade Umahi Chimezie, the final of the 3rd edition of the annual championship could not hold last year on May 1st as earlier planed because of late resolution of Gitto FC’s protest against the decision of the disciplinary committee of the championship to award three goals and three points to Julius Berger FC.  

“Gitto was disqualified for using illegible players against Berger. They went ahead to protest against the decision of the disciplinary committee to national body of workers union and the matter was not resolved in time. That was why we couldn’t hold the final last year,” he said.

Umahi assured on his committee’s commitment to organize a befitting final that all construction and wood workers will be proud of. The match will be played to commemorate May workers day celebration at the Area Old Parade Ground.
