As a sign that things have since gone sour between the two, the first lady resigned her position as permanent secretary in the Bayelsa civil service. That was followed by allegations that she disapproved the governor’s move of not supporting most of the federal legislators from the state to retain their seats.
In another meeting that was to hold at the villa when the governor brought in some elders from the state to see the President, she reportedly walked out of the venue as the governor stepped in.
At the PDP presidential rally in Yenagaoa, the level of disagreement between the governor and the first lady was demonstrated when every time the president mentioned his support for Dickson, the crowd shouted: “Noooo” in response. The protest continued to the extent that the president issued a mild threat by saying those who do not support Dickson are also not supporting him.
It came out clear that while the president is supporting the governor, his wife is bent on seeing that Dickson does not return. It is left to be seen which between the will of the husband and that of the wife will prevail.
