Between El-Rufa’i and Kaduna elders

Malam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufa’i is one of the most controversial governors in the history of Kaduna state. Since the time he assumed office to date, the governor has been waging a political battle with his friends and foes.
Surprisingly, in what appeared to be a dramatic twist of event, another group with the name Kaduna development elders’ initiatives has sprung up and expressed displeasure with the governor’s leadership styles in the state. In a communique released by the group last week and published in the Daily Trust of Friday, September 16, the association expressed reservation that the much talked slogan of making “Kaduna great” can hardly be achieved. To them, the governor has failed to distinguish between citizens and indigenes. They accused the governor of appointing some non-indigene into key position while civil servants and pensioners are living in agony as the result of endless verification exercise.
Although, Governor El-Rufa’i is viewed as elitist in his policies, he needs to be more democratic.
