Between Gov. Mutawalle and Abdulaziz Yari

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State and Former Zamfara State governor, Abdulaziz Yari

As concerned citizens and advocates for the defence of human rights and the promotion of the rule of law who feel that at no point in time should people choose what to obey in our constitution and what not, the constitution of the FRN Chapter 4 subsection 41 clearly states that “Every citizen of Nigeria is entitled to move freely throughout Nigeria and to reside in any part thereof, It also says that no citizen of Nigeria shall be expelled from Nigeria or refused entry “thereby or exit therefrom”. With this, the sacred constitution have left no one in doubt that the laws of our land guarantee the right to movement of law abiding citizens.

It is on record that Dr. Abdul’aziz Yari has served Zamfara State with honesty, diligence, accountability and fear of God and the records are there in the public domain, for everyone to see. The security challenges experienced during his stint as governor of the state are not peculiar to Zamfara State alone, but almost across every other state and across the globe. there is always one security challenge or the other to contend with, What differentiates him from the current state actors is that he has chosen not to choose the path of cowardice, a path where political leaders who swore to protect lives and properties will stoop so low to even negotiate with criminal elements and even pay them handsomely so as not to perpetrate their crimes. This peace is anchored on the presumption that a criminal can only change face but not his criminal tendencies.

Governor Bello Matawalle should know that he became governor of Zamfara State because of miscarriage of Justice. Because of this he should be magnanimous enough to enjoy his court-given tenure in peace and strive hard to make an impact for which he can be remembered. As things are now, he has not only deviated from the path of governance, but he has also chosen to pursue shadows in his desperate bid to cover up for his lack of performance.

His immediate predecessor, a well established grassroots politician, has the liberty to always come to Zamfara State on invitation or free will. He is also backed by the constitution to hold political meetings and other engagements, in order to rejuvenate his party and prepare it ahead of future elections and also provide a vibrant opposition that will help in checkmating the new administration. Well meaning citizens of the state will forever stand resolute against impunity and dictatorial tendencies of self appointed demigods, As advocates of the law, we challenge Governor Bello Matawalle to be bold and audacious enough to come forward with any evidence or proof of involvement of Dr. Abdul’aziz Yari in promoting insecurity.

Also, he should understand that the current cease fire arrangement with the bandits is only a surface dressing that will not endure and cannot stand the test of time.
