Governor M A Abubakar, a right honourable gentleman, has always been a pro peace and pro dialogue personality and this can be exemplified in so many of the tough challenges he encountered especially when his administration started off in mid-2015. One of such areas is how he dialogued with the Labour unions of the State as well as primary school teachers unions to find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis of nonpayment of salaries which his administration inherited from the previous government of Mallam Isa Yuguda. Today that is a thing of the past.
So when this so called feud between the governor and our federal legislators started, one will be sure to assume that the fires and the flames were fuelled by the hostile Abuja Politicians who clearly were not arguing or feuding the governor with Bauchi in their heart but themselves and that is why it is not coming to an end as quickly as one might have thought it would. They were the ones that escalated the matter and turned it into a national show of shame as they went to the President with unsubstantiated claims and allegations against the governor.
One simply in all honesty cannot affirm that Governor M A Abubakar is not making huge efforts at developing Bauchi and putting it on the road map to success in terms of bringing the dividends of democracy to the door steps of its people. There are projects covering the length and breadth of Bauchi for all to see. Go to Itas, visit Jama’are and see the road dualisation projects going on there. In the same breath, go to Misau and Udubo and Gamawa and Gabchiyari. Visit the township roads being built and rehabilitated there. Go to Toro and so many other locations within the state including the soon to be started Warji/Gwaram road. Bauchi metropolis speaks for itself. There are dual carriage roads from every entry way to the city and the ancient city is now looking modern in all aspects. There are road works at Fadaman Mada, at Tafawa Balewa Estate, at Ibrahim Bako Estate, the road to the State University, the State Polytechnic’s road works are all there for one to behold. So for christ’s sake what are we saying here? Haba malamai!
Gov M A Abubakar is closer to the people and even closer to the people of the grassroots and is a deeply grounded and routed politician who is in touch with his base as he traverses the State day in day out while his detractors shout gibberish from their cosy offices in Abuja without visiting their constituencies in months. They just spring up with strange bed fellows from the PDP and want to tell us they are agents of change? From all indications they are agents of doom who want to take us back to the yesteryears of underdevelopment and we say a solid nay to them.
The Prophet Muhammd (SAW) preaches peace and it is in the interest of Bauchi first that our lawmakers see the light that there is wisdom in making peace with their leader the governor who is supposed to be father to all. He has always been open to dialogue and has said several times that he is all for peace. We all support this noble effort by the APC National Working Committee in trying to mediate between the governor and the Abuja legislators by bringing peace between them for the good of the state.
