Beware of land racketeers, FHA warns

The authority explained that the fraudsters have been deceiving unsuspecting members of the public by claiming to have the consent of its Managing Director to discuss allocation of the authority`s land or housing units with the prospective clients of the authority.
An advertorial signed by FHA`s Head, Corporate Communications Tunde  Ipinmisho  states, “Members of the public are hereby warned that neither the Managing Director nor the Authority operates through such shady agents. There are laid down procedures for doing business with FHA which can be accessed on the Auhthority`s official website or at any of the FHA’s offices in the six zones of the country.”
He also said that the FHA is not soliciting for information from any estate agency or individual on its property nationwide, saying  a digitization programme is underway to uncover any uncommitted property in the Authority`s locations (if any).
He said that the Authority will henceforth treat unauthorized persons who meddle in its property matters as fraudsters and would accordingly hand them over to the relevant security agencies.
“ Holders of the Authority `s land and house allocation from 2012 to date who have not made payment and done the necessary documentation are hereby directed to come forward and verify the status of such allocations. Whoever fails to comply with the directives by the end of June 2015 should consider such allocations as invalid,” he warned.
