After an exhaustive journey alongside Alhaji Muhammed Jibrin Barde, popularly known as Dan Barde, in a quest to rescue Gombe State, it seems tempting to put my pen to rest. Yet, necessity compels me to articulate the recent events.
On January 19, 2023, some of us awaited the Supreme Court’s judgment, hoping for a favorable outcome in our vision to rescue Gombe State during the 2023 governorship elections. The law, however, spoke in its power.
Following the judgments, Dan Barde expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the struggle via social media. However, post-acknowledgment, I’ve noticed seemingly inconsequential yet perilous statements from supporters, echoing sentiments like “the game is over, it is time to move on.”
I strongly urge all supporters, well-wishers, and the PDP family to recognize that the game is not over; it has just begun. Miriam Makeba’s words, “Aluta Continua, Victoria Acerta,” meaning our struggle continues, and our victory is certain by 2027, should guide us. Settling for the idea that it is over, rather than acknowledging the ongoing game, risks dimming our vision and passion for Gombe State.
Allow me to swiftly state key points:
1. Having worked closely with Mr. Dan Barde during the 2023 elections, I can attest that he does not adhere to the theory of hit and run. His focus on empowering the people of Gombe is unwavering, prioritizing progress over personal gain.
2. Dan Barde exemplifies simple leadership, aligning his team and citizens toward a prosperous Gombe State where everyone takes pride in calling it home.
3. Contrary to speculations, Dan Barde and his team have not closed any chapter. Reflections on the journey so far will pave the way for navigating the possibilities ahead in 2027.
4. Dan Barde’s faith in the face of challenges stems from his belief that no system or human can alter what God does not permit. His message on January 19 should be seen as a statement of strength, fortifying our resolve for the challenges ahead.
In Dan Barde’s frequent words, “we are stronger together.” It’s not the time to give up or close any books; destiny may be delayed but not denied.
