Learning is changing rapidly across the world and experts have been urged to reimagine education in a way that does not only produce learners who have mastery over content but also those who can move from comprehending concepts to creating solutions.

This advice was given during an education programme tagged “Canvas of Change and Masterclass,” which was held in Lagos to train teachers on modern ways of teaching and preparing their students for the future in line with the trends in technology.

BIC, a global leader in stationery, lighters, and shavers, said the programme is aimed at enhancing learning conditions in West Africa as it brought together hundreds of educators under the programme.

It said the programme, which was launched in October in commemoration of the Teacher Appreciation Month, stemmed from its global commitment to improve learning conditions for 250 million students by 2025.

Commenting on the programme, the Business Development Head at BIC Nigeria, Adeyemi Ojo, said they are committed to education and have been supporting the sector for years.

He stated that this year, the company partnered with experts in the field to further expand its reach and impact.

“Education remains at the forefront of what we do, and we remain committed to equipping educators with the right knowledge, skills and methodologies to pass on to students, who will one day lead our nation,” he said.

Speaking, the Teacher and Programme Coordinator for Olusunkanmi Opeifa Educational Foundation, Opeifa Olasukanmi, said redefining education as a gateway, not a barrier, involves mastering clear and empathetic communication through assessment and feedback.

The Managing Director at TRACE Academia, Femi Taiwo, added that with the fast pace of change driven by rapid digitization and globalisation, young people today and tomorrow are faced with a world of work that demands a growth mindset, healthy self-awareness, and excellent 21st-century soft skills including creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, enabling them to flourish in different endeavours.
