Abubakar Alhassan Bichi has been elected National President, Association of Medical Social Workers of Nigeria (AMSWON).
He was the 1st National Vice President of Association of Medical Social Workers of Nigeria from October 2011- October 2015, and was duly elected National President of the Association in October during the Association’s 2015 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
Abubakar has been the National Vice President, North East Zone of Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW) since 2010 to Date.
He is also a member of Nigerian Association of Social Work Educators (NASWE).
Abubakar Alhassan Bichi was born in 1969 in Bichi town, Bichi LGA of Kano State. He Attended Danmusa ‘A’ Primary School from 1977-1983,GDSS Danmusa from 1983 1986,Katsina State, attended GTC Soba-Zaria, Kaduna State briefly after which he moved to Science Secondary School, Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State where he obtained his WASC in 1989.
Between 1991-1993 he obtained One Year Certificate in Social Development and Two year Diploma in Social Administration, attended Bayero University, Kano and graduated with BSc (Hons) Sociology in 2001. Bichi also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Social Policy and Administration in the year 2007 from the same university. He has been practicing Social Work in Hospital Settings starting from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital(AKTH) Kano from 1994-2005. He is currently working in Federal Medical Centre(FMC) Azare since 2005 to date.
Abubakar is a polygamist and blessed with 10 children.
