Speaking to Pyramid Trust, the initiator of the project and the Head of Agricultural Department Bichi Local Government, Malam Abdul Rahman Balarabe Yola, said.

“The aim of this project is to find some means of augmenting what the council has been receiving from the Federal Government as grant. We all know that with the present economic meltdown, grant received from the federal government has been going down. Therefore, there is a need for the council to map out modalities in finding ways of augmenting what it received. I believe through this initiative Bichi Local Government in 10 years will be the largest producers of Moringa in Africa,” he said.

He added. “Though it was my initiative, it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the local government authorities under the leadership of Alhaji Lawan Shehu Bichi, the chairman of Bichi local government”.

This correspondent was conducted round the project site at Badume village where a land mass of 16 acres was acquired by the council purposely for the agricultural project. At the site 15000 moringa plants and 2756 mango plants of different varieties were planted.
