Bickerings as Bauchi APC guber aspirants yet to reach consensus

The stalemate in the Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC over who should fly the party’s flag in the next governorship elections has persisted as the aspirants are yet to reach a consensus.

This is even as indications have emerged that the Minister of Health and Social Welfare Prof Muhammad Ali Pate may not have given up on his gubernatorial ambition as he controls the recently inaugurated structure of the party in the state.

Yusuf Maitama Tuggar resigned his position as minister last week to gun for the ticket of the party while there are other aspirants like Shehu Buba, Bala Wunti, MA and others who are also interested in the ticket.

The meeting the state governor, Bala Mohammed had with the APC national leaders who came to  Bauchi has also added to the anxiety as no one is sure if he will accept to join the APC.

His joining the ruling party is bound to alter political calculations for the governorship ticket of the party. Our correspondent learnt that the Governor was offered the option of nominating the running mate if he agrees to defect to the APC which sources say was not accepted yet.

Our correspondent learnt that the health minister was to supposed to have been part of a meeting called to resolve the issue of consensus but was out of the country for an official assignment. The meeting could not take place due to his absence.

Our correspondent observed that the minister has also continued his political activities and consultations.

The development is unsettling other aspirants in the state as they had believed he has withdrawn from the race since he is not known to have formally resigned his position as minister.
