Biden has won more votes than any presidential nominee in US history

The Democrat presidential candidate, Joe Biden has received more votes than any other presidential nominee in the history of the United States of America. 

An influx of votes for both candidates is a testimony to the country’s growing population and a resurgence in voting participation.

Biden has take an early lead in the current US president election.
As at 10am AEDT, at last count, Joe Biden had amassed more than 70.8 million votes, compared to 68.2 million votes for Donald Trump.

In 2008, Barack Obama amassed almost 69.5 million votes to be the record holder, but according to the the current statistics, Biden’s current total has outstriped that of Barack Obama.

As vote counting continues, analysts have continued to look at chances for both candidates.

But one confusing thing is that in the US popular votes is not a guarantee to secure the presidency.

In 2016, Donald Trump won the presidency with 62.9 million votes, despite being behind on the popular vote to his opponent, Hillary Clinton, who won 65.8 million votes.
