The success of Justin Bieber’s single, ‘What Do You Mean?,’ has continued to rise as it climbed to the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Reports from Billboard reveal that the song has been downloaded about 337,000 times and streamed 23.3 million times to hit that spot. It has also become the 23rd song in US chart history to debut at the top.
‘What Do You Mean’ has now topped the charts in 12 countries and recently became his first UK number one single and broke the record for the most-streamed track (3.2 million) during its first week on sale. It could also be his first UK number one single this week.
The 21-year-old Canadian singer, who began his singing career at a tender age, released his debut album, ‘My World’ in 2009 and he became the first artiste to have seven songs from a debut record to be on the top 100 songs on the billboard.
His first full-length studio album, ‘My world 2.0,’ was released in March 2010 and it debuted at or near number one in several countries. The YouTube video of his single ‘Baby’ released in July 2014 had the most dislikes, and the most views on a Vevo platform.
He was listed three times by Forbes magazine as one of the top 10 most powerful celebrities in the world in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
However, following the unveiling of its music video at the MTV VMAs, further findings reveal that Taylor Swift’s single, ‘Wildest Dream’ has made a debut at number 15 and Macklemore’s ‘Downtown’ is the week’s highest climber, moving 76 places to 18.
