Big Brother Amplified: Housemates go discreetly nude

As the first live eviction show on May 8 went by and the credits rolled, the housemates found themselves randomly split into two groups, in two separate houses – and competing for grand prize.

The housemates were all summoned from the house and onto the stage, with uncertainty. The ‘Audition Week’ had left some of them doubting their future in the game. Once on stage, IK asked them to randomly pick different-coloured gloves from a bag. Once all the housemates had each fished for a glove, the group of 26 found themselves wearing 4 different colours. The first group of 15 – wearing green and yellow gloves – were asked to leave the stage – and soon found themselves back in the house they had just left.

Shortly after the departure of the first group, the remaining 11 housemates had been asked to leave the stage too, fearing that they may have been eliminated from the game. Seconds later, they emerged into a completely new house – and their relief was palpable.

The group of 15 in the original house will be known as ‘Heads’, with the second group of 11 in the new house called ‘Tails’.

The Heads include; Bernadina (Namibia), Confidence (Ghana), Danny  (Ethiopia), Felicia (Malawi), Hanni (Ethiopia), Jossy (Namibia), Lomwe (Malawi), Michael (Mozambique), Millicen (Kenya), Sharon (Uganda), Vimbai (Zimbabwe), Vina (Nigeria), Wendall (Zimbabwe), Weza (Angola) and Zeus (Botswana).

The Tails include; Alex (Ghana), Bhoke (Tanzania), Ernest (Uganda), Karen (Nigeria), Kim (Zambia), Lotus (Tanzania), Luclay (RSA), Miss P (Botswana), Mumba (Zambia), Nic (Kenya), and Nkuli (RSA).

Fallout from the ‘Discreetly Nude’ photo-shoot task

Day 10 witnessed housemates shooting pictures for their Calendar Task, while Alex, the Tails cameraman, consulted with his models on poses. Both Heads and Tails Houses had the same task; to shoot photos for use in a Big Brother calendar.

They were supplied with a mountain of over-the-top clothing and accessories for the photo shoots, which they’ve had to come up with coherent themes for.

Wednesday afternoon was in full swing with their photo shoot, with Alex – who’s acting as cameraman – consulting with his models on which poses worked best.

Several shorts were taken with lighting effects and some of the women posing nude.

But shortly after midnight that Wednesday, Weza and Vimbai confessed they felt uneasy about the pictures they took for the ‘Discreetly Nude’ photo-shoot. They were worried about what it portrayed to the viewers.

Weza said it was better for the unknowns in the House but people already knew her as a personality and she was hoping that they didn’t think she was “using” her body to campaign for votes.

The Angolan Housemate complained that to add salt to injury, her people didn’t even understand English so they could have been shocked as to why she was suddenly half naked on television.

Weza said her brothers and family members particularly would be miffed about the shots if they caught her on TV and expressed concerns about her image back home.

Vimbai said modeling was not painted in a good light generally and the shoot could have been extreme. She worried that they may have misread what was expected of them.

Hanni tried consoling the models, telling them that there was no reason why they had to be that hard on themselves as viewers knew exactly why they had done the shoot.

But Big brother announced the photos was impressive and the creativity superb. But he expressed dissatisfaction about how the housemates expressed confidence about themselves and challenged them to be more confident about their creative capability.

6 Housemates Up For Eviction

The Housemates survived Audition Week but Confidence, Danny, Jossy, Vina, Weza and Vimbai are up for eviction this week after the Housemates’ first nomination session.

Once all the nominations were in, Zeus found himself up for eviction, but used his power as Head of House to save himself, nominating Vimbai in his place.

When summoned to give Big Brother his decision, Zeus burst out laughing when he was asked which Housemate he would like to save, saying: “it goes without saying that I would like to save myself”. He would not be drawn into saying why he was replacing himself with Vimbai. At the end of the live eviction show tonight, the housemate with the least number of votes goes home.
