The Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) has said that it has recovered over 15 stolen vehicles.

The acting Chairman of BIRS, Emmanuel Agema, said the move had not only put smiles on the faces of the victims, but had encouraged registration, as well as renewal of vehicle papers, which improved the revenue profile of the state.

In a statement by his spokeswoman, Jacintha Bernard, Agema said that with the commissioning of the computerised vehicle inspection workshop under his leadership, vehicles could now be tested automatically and the owners issued certificates of roadworthiness.

He said, “This initiative has made it possible for stolen vehicles to be retrieved, recovered and handed over to the owners while the criminals have been handed over to the police to face the wrath of the law.”
