A Dutse Grade I Area Court in Bwari Area Council, on Thursday, sentenced a 55-year-old businessman, Innocent Ityav, to two months imprisonment for selling his friend’s motorcycle.
The judge, Mr. Hassan Aliyu, who found Ityav guilty, however, gave him an option of N30,000 fine and ordered him to pay the complainant N40,000 owed him for the motorcycle before December, 2020 or face a more severe punishment.

The convict, a resident of Tudun Fulani in Bwari, was convicted of criminal breach of trust and cheating, having pleaded guilty to the offences.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr. Tunde Arowolo, told the court that the convict was reported at the Bwari Police Station by one Saidu Bako of same address on October 5.
Arowolo said the defendant was, in 2014, given a motorcycle by the complainant, who was his friend, to keep for him, but that the defendant sold the motorcycle without the consent of the owner and converted the money to his personal use.
He added that the defendant pleaded with the complainant and agreed to pay back N40,000 from the sale but failed to keep to his promise.
The prosecutor also said that the convict was arrested by the police and that during investigation, he admitted to committing the crime, explaining that the offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
