A 56-year-old businessman, was on Wednesday docked in a Life Camp Magistrates’ Court Abuja for allegedly threatening to kill his nephew.

The police charged the man with criminal intimidation.

The prosecution counsel, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that on August 25, the complainant, Samuel of Mountain of Fire, Dutse, Abuja, the defendant’s nephew reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station.

Nwachukwu said that on Aug. 24, the defendant dishonesty sent a WhatsApp voice note massage to the complainant, threatening to kill him.

She said that the defendant also insulted Samuel because he demanded for his international passport.

She said the complainant and his friend Gabriel entrusted their international passport to the defendant to facilitate a trip to Japan.

Nwachukwu said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 397 of the Penal Code

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge

Magistrate Ramilatu Halilu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N 500,000 and two sureties in like sum.

Halilu ordered that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until Sept. 24 for future mention (NAN).
