An FCT High Court in Apo has ordered the remand of a businessman in prison for alleged criminal intimidation, theft and forgery.

The defendant, Okoh Lucid, was accused of forging property documents claiming that the owner of the property had sold and conveyed the ownership of the plot of land to him.

He was said to have thereafter rented the house out to someone at the rate of N250,000 without the consent of the owner and converted the money to his personal use.

The prosecutor, Hadi Barkun, had told the court that the offences were committed on May 26, 2014.

He said the defendant entered the property of one Abioye Adesina at Plot 34/35, Sultan Dasuki Road, Phase 2 Site 2, Kubwa, Abuja, without the consent of the owner.

He said that the offences contravened sections 286, 396 of the Penal Code and were punishable under sections 397 and 287 of the code. 

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the 11-count charge when read to him. Following his plea, the trial judge, Justice Peter Kekemeke, ordered that he be remanded in prison, and adjourned the case until June 14 for hearing.
