A blacksmith and his son who allegedly specialised in making guns for criminals have been arrested by the 17th Brigade of Nigerian Army in Katsina.

The blacksmith, Suleiman Rabiu, 52, and his son Abdurashid hail from Dalwa village, Charanchi Local Government Area of the state.

The Brigade Commander, Lt. Lukman Omoniyi, told newsmen that the duo are believed to be manufacturing weapons for the criminals and bandits and that the son, Abdurashid, helped with the fabrication and scouting for customers.

Omoniyi said a number of items were recovered from the suspects’ abode which included two short barrel Dane guns, one long barrel Dane gun, locally fabricated pistols and equipment used in the making of guns.

“As we speak, the suspects are presently with the 35 Battalion provost detachment for further scrutiny,” he added.
