A bomb blast at a motor park in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State killed five people and injured 12 on Wednesday, police authorities confirmed.

Spokesman of the Bauchi Police Command DSP Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident while briefing news men in Bauchi.

He said on the night of October22, 2014, there was a bomb blast at a Motor Park round about in Azare town in the state. Five persons were burnt beyond recognition while 12 others sustained various degrees of injuries.

DSP Mohammed said the scene of the incident had been visited by a combined team of security forces and victims were rushed to the Federal Medical Center Azare for treatment.

The corpses of the dead were evacuated to the mortuary, he said.

He said the entire surroundings was cordoned off and secured by Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Units. .

The police spokesman said no arrest had been made and investigation had commenced to ascertain the cause.

 

Last night’s incident was about the third time Azare town has come under attack from Boko Haram terrorists.

 

On December 5, 2011, the terrorists descended on the city, using explosives to destroy a police station and some commercial banks there.

About a year later, the town suffered yet another attack on December 3, 2012.
