Tochukwu Ikebuife, nicknamed “Mmanye”, confused and defrauded his victims by spitting into their palms and having the saliva go straight through to their back of their hands.

A visually challenged man, who has been defrauding unsuspecting people in Anambra, has been arrested by the police.

His wife Nkiru, named as an accomplice, was also arrested.

His victims were mostly young girls and boys working as salesgirls or indentured apprentices in different markets in Onitsha.

He was arrested by the police anti-cult unit led by SP Noel Uche in Obosi, Idemili North council area of Anambra.

The suspect, from Ire, in Obosi,  was said to have at different times managed to skim amounts ranging from N500,000 to N5 million.

The arrest was made known when Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), led by its National President,  Dede Uzor A. Uzor,  paid a courtesy visit to the Anti-cult Commander  in Enugu -Ukwu, SP. Noel Uche last week.

Seven of his victims were present during the courtesy visit.

“People should be careful of such individuals. This is one of their antics. I urge Police to immediately arraign the suspect and the wife to serve as deterrent to others,” Uzor said.
