The Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, has enjoined the public to comply with the federal government’s directives towards easing the lockdown order.

They said doing so would help protect the citizens from the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging country.

Registrar of the board, Mohammed Ibrahim Mami, enjoined members of the public to ensure strict observance of both local and international protocols by “Covering their mouths and noses properly when sneezing and/or coughing; washing their hands frequently with soap under running water or using alcohol-based sanitizer if water was not available; disposing of tissues properly immediately after use, and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.”

He said in a statement that the board was committed to providing optimal surveillance systems at various healthcare centres to prevent further spread of the disease.

He said the board was also working to ensure improved health data which is vital in tracking and identifying carriers of the virus.

He also advised healthcare workers to observe standard infection prevention and control measures when attending to patients and to take travel history.

“Together with adequate cooperation/adherence, we will win the fight against this pandemic,” he said in the statement.
