The FCT Secondary Education Board has warned Principals of Government Senior Secondary Schools in Abuja to stop all forms of arbitrary charges and levies.

The FCT Secondary Education Board chairman, Alhaji Musa Yahaya Muhammad, said this while addressing principals of government secondary schools during an emergency management meeting held at Government Secondary School, Tudun Wada.

The SEB boss said on no account should students be made to pay any levy except payments approved by the board.

He admonished all the principals to take the issue of security in their schools very serious, emphasizing that security is everybody’s business and as principals they were the number one chief security officers of their schools. He urged them to use their initiatives to improve the security situations around their schools.

Alhaji Musa also directed that students should not be allowed into the school premises with mobile phones, noting that they constituted a distraction to them.

He also frowned at the rising cases of sexual assault in government secondary schools, warning that searchlight has been beamed to expose such acts, stressing that management will not take it lightly with perpetrators.

Speaking at the event, the Director, FCT Secondary Education Board, Mrs. Nanre Emeje, urged old principals to mentor the newly appointed ones, to be role models and ensure that they are accessible at all times.

She called on them to always dialogue with parents and members of the school community on policies and new developments, especially during the School Open Day.
