A boat mishap in Kankara Local government of Katsina has claimed the lives of four teenage girls. A boat mishap in Kankara Local government of Katsina has claimed the lives of four teenage girls.

The victims are Yasira Suleiman, 16, Safara’u Sa’idu, 16, Nana Firdausi Ibrahim ,16, and Zakiyya Isiya, 17.

The incident occurred at Mashiga Dam when the girls boarded the boat on their way to a neighbouring village to buy Moringa leaves.

Confirming the incident the spokesman of Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah said all the victims were natives of Dan Zango village.

According to him, it took the intervention of some good samaritans to rescue one of the victims Maryam Zubairu, 13, and the canoe peddler whose identity was yet to be ascertained.
