Veteran actor Bob-Manuel Udokwu has been conferred with a chieftaincy title in recognition of his contribution to the upliftment of the society through entertainment.

The title, ‘Nze Anagba Nkili’, meaning ‘Chief that people rush to behold’, was given by His Majesty, Igwe Uzo Onyido, the traditional ruler of Ogidi in Anambra State, the home town of the actor. 

Speaking at the occasion, held at the Igwe’s palace in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Onyido said that with this new title, Chief Udokwu’s status in the society, especially in Ogidi has been elevated to be among decision makers and opinion leaders in the town. He also prayed God to uplift him (Chief Udokwu) further in the society. 

Responding, Chief Udokwu pledged to use his celebrity status to work for the success of the Igwe, Ogidi town, Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole. 

Four other illustrious sons of Ogidi were also honoured with various chieftaincy titles at the well-attended occasion filled with pomp and pageantry. 

It will be recalled that on November 16th 2015, the Igwe of Enugwu Aguleri also in Anambra State, His Majesty Eze Chukwuemeka Eri conferred on Udokwu the chieftaincy title of ‘Onye Anagba Nkili’, meaning ‘the one who people rush to behold‘.

Chief Udokwu, who is Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Creative Media is one of the pioneers of Nollywood and has acted in many films.
