BOI moves against unemployment

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of BOI Ms Evelyn Oputu who disclosed this during an event in Lagos at the weekend tagged “A moment with a V.I.P” organised by the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) expressed concerns with the growing level of unemployment in Nigeria and its attendant consequences to the economy.
Oputu said the BOI gives preference to agriculture and import substitution businesses at the expense of oil and gas because it believes more Nigerians would be employed if they thrive, stressing that the bank will continue to support any means through which Nigerians can get jobs in line with its mandate. While tutoring the accountants, she admonished women to venture into entrepreneurial activities in order to effectively empower themselves.
In order to grow their businesses, Oputu advised women to determine the kind of business they  want to venture into and also consider the resources required for the business and the risks involved.
According to Oputu, the entrepreneur should also recognize the strength of her workers and give credit to them when they excel in their tasks.
The Chairperson of SWAN Mrs.Tokunbo Obafemi Adegbola, in her statement commended Oputu for her sterling performance since she assumed leadership of the bank.
Adegbola said Oputu is a shining example of an ambitious woman and charged her members to emulate the virtues of the BOI’s boss.
She also implored them to take advantage of the packages designed by the bank to help women in the country.
