Extremist group Boko Haram has changed the way its sends video to reporters by posting them on youtube channel and sending their links to journalists via email.

Along with the links to the videos it sent to reporters in the early hours of Wednesday, the insurgents threatened “revenge” if new cartoons are released in France saying the group doesn’t “forgive.”

In the two videos, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau hailed the attack on France over Charlie Hebdo cartoons claiming that no one could remain a Muslim without denouncing democracy.

Suspected members of the group attempted to take over a military barracks in Biu, a local government in southern Borno state not far from Gombe state on Wednesday morning. Reports say there repelled.

The militants were said to have disguised in military uniforms when they invaded the military base.

 The sound of the heavy gun fighting that ensued drove residents into the bushes, Daily Trust learnt. 

 They however came back after the attack was successfully repelled.

In the past, the group was using email to communicate with journalists before security operatives began picking up their spokespersons and youths in Maiduguri known as civilian JTF and the people of the town chased them out of Maiduguri.

The group’s change of mode of communication is coming after it held a large swathe of Nigerian territory for months.
