He stated this yesterday when the Speaker House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, the National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and the Minister for Youth Development, Inuwa Abdulkadir, who are all Sokoto indigenes, were in the state to commiserate with the people of the state over the incident.

 

“We are not intimidated! We cannot be intimidated! As Muslims, we remain determined to live together, love one another, among us and among all people living in the state irrespective of their inclinations or lining,” the governor stressed.

He described Sokoto people as peaceful and peace loving noting, “For whatever reason some people somewhere want to destabilise that peaceful nature of our state. By the grace of God they will stand disgraced”.

The governor said prayers to Almighty Allah have been intensified to help overcome this challenge in the state and the entire country.

Wamakko called on the entire state to “intensify prayers during this holy month of Ramadan so that together we can once again maintain the very name that we are known with—the most peaceful and peace loving state in this country. And I am confident that by the Grace of Allah our prayers will be answered by our creator”.

Earlier, Speaker Aminu Tambuwal said they were all concerned and worried about how the hitherto peaceful Sokoto was targeted.

The Speaker expressed, “The incident Your Excellency was indeed very unfortunate, the people of Sokoto State have been known to be peaceful in nature and we live in peace and harmony amongst ourselves and indeed all citizens and non Nigerians that reside in Sokoto State.

“We have the culture of embracing virtually each and every citizen that is residing in Sokoto State. Unfortunately, this incident has now affected that our particular record of being the most peaceful state in the country,” he stated.

He however called on the good people of Sokoto State to continue to live in harmony and ensure peaceful co-existence.

The Speaker also urged the people to continue to cooperate with security agencies towards ensuring that such incidents do not happen any more.

“Insha Allah, we believe that with established system that we have in Sokoto State and working along with security agencies, this objective can be achieved,” Tambuwal added.

The Speaker promised continuous support to ensure all actions expected to be taken on security issues are taken.

The NSA did not make any comment during the courtesy call at Government House, Sokoto.
