As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Brian Munro Limited, makers of Munro’s Glucose D, has donated literature books worth two million naira to primary and secondary schools in Abuja, Lagos and Rivers among other states. They have also supported Dr. Obii Okwelume’s book ‘Stories my father told me’ in contribution to Nigeria’s education system.
At the presentation of two thousand copies of the book, marketing head of the company, Mr. Abayomi Ajao, said Okwelume’s book is a collection of tales that can be told on moonlit evenings for the pleasure of young readers as well as seniors.
He said: “It contains twenty enchanting stories, some of which may have come down from generation to generation, about men and animals, kings and farmers.”
About his work, Okwulume who is the 2010 recipient of the RE Bradbury Prize said: “Somewhere in each story, there is a moral lesson or truth, as the purpose of storytelling in Africa has always been to teach and instruct. These stories are as entertaining, instructive and appealing as they were when they were first told.  We are very certain the book will make the much needed impact we desire in our children.”
