The Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, is expected to declare open JusticeTechNG 2025, Nigeria’s first national Justice Tech Hackathon and Accelerator Programme.

Justice Zannah, who is also the Chairman of the Judiciary Information Technology Committee of the National Judicial Council (NJC), is also expected to chair the event on Tuesday.

The Hackathon programme would be held from June 3 to 5 in Lagos and focus exclusively on justice innovation.

It is organised by the Special Assistant to the President on Justice Sector Reform and ICT/Digital and Innovative Technology, Fernandez Marcus-Obiene, with the support of public and private sector stakeholders.

The initiative aims to identify, support, and scale technology-based solutions that address systemic challenges across the justice sector—from access to legal aid and court administration to crime prevention, reintegration, and transparency.

The Hackathon will feature a three-day in-person development sprint where shortlisted teams of innovators will build out their ideas into functional prototypes, with access to mentors and sector experts.

Accelerator Programme, which is billed for June 10 and July 10, will involve 10 teams selected from the Hackathon that will undergo a four-week virtual accelerator that will include structured mentorship and targeted training in legal frameworks, product design, justice-sector data, digital compliance, and business development.

A live showcase of the top 10 solutions before a panel of judges, potential investors, and government representatives will be held in August.

Finalists will pitch for awards and funding, and be exposed to post-event investment and partnership opportunities.
