Abdullahi Musa Askira, Deputy Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, has narrated how suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Provinces (ISWAP) burnt down his elder brother’s house during a recent attack.

In a chat with our correspondent, the lawmaker said the house located at Chan Chan Dana Community in Askira Uba local government area of the state was razed on Wednesday.

“There was an attack by insurgents in my hometown yesterday, they razed down the house of my late elder brother who was the village head before he died almost a year ago.”

“I’m the one who built it for him; but it’s not my house… Before they came to attack my village earlier in the day, troops had gone to their enclave and dislodge them. So, it is unfortunate that they still struck. However, we shall continue to support our troops who are working to ensure there is peace in our domain,” Askira said.

Daily Trust had reported how many resident fled the community and its surroundings when insurgent stormed the town on Wednesday.

There are concerns about growing insecurity across the country.

In the last 24 hours, 31 persons were killed in attacks in Taraba, Katsina and Imo states.

On Monday, bandits gunned down seven policemen in an ambush in Zamfara State.
