‘Borno generates N18.7 billion in 2021’

The Chairman of Borno State Board of Internal Revenue Service (BO-IRS), Mohammed Alkali, has said N18,739,031,387.28 was raised through internally generated revenues (IGR) collected in 2021.

Mohammed made this known to our correspondent in Maiduguri on Tuesday.

“This represents a year-on-year increase of 62 per cent over that of the year 2020 which was N11,593,000,000,” he said,

Mohammed attributed the increase in IGR to the gradual restoration of peace after a decade long Boko Haram insurgency, thereby leading to an increase in the collection of various taxes and levies from markets and motor parks.
