Dear members of the Borno State House of Assembly, I am writing to you via this medium, as that is the only way students of Borno State will know that we did our best to protect their interests.
The state government has not paid allowances since 2013. You may recall that the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, approved the sum of N235 million for payment to students who applied for the 2012/2013 academic session scholarship. But the payment of scholarship stopped after the 2015 general election.
I have written letters to the governor, informing him of the effect the development is having on students. I commend the governor for his efforts in resettling the displaced people of Borno, but this is also a burning issue. I urge you to intervene in this matter so that students can face their studies without distractions.
Comrade Shettima Umar, is the former president/senator of the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS)
