The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has described Borno State as the most resilient state, adding that it has “mastered the art of overcoming challenges” in Nigeria.

The minister stated this when he visited Borno State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur, in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

The minister was in Maiduguri as part of activities to mark the meeting of the APC Commissioners of Information Forum.

“Borno State is clearly Nigeria’s most resilient state, against the backdrop of the severe challenges it has experienced in the last decade,” Idris said.

Idris explained that the people of Borno State deserved to be praised by every Nigerian for their steadfastness and their ability to always bounce back from difficult situations.

Some of the impacts of the activities of Boko Haram and other splinter cells from the dreaded terrorist group include killing and displacement of residents of the state, health challenges, destruction of schools, government and private properties across the state.

Recently, the state has also been hit with the worst level of natural disasters, like flooding, which left several communities and households across Borno devastated.

Borno, which shares borders with Yobe to the west, Gombe to the southwest, and Adamawa to the south, is the only Nigerian state that borders three countries — Niger, Chad, and Cameroon.
