Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State who is seeking a second term in office under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading the race with wide a margin.
Results announced by collation officers from 22 out of the 27 local government areas of the state at in Maiduguri showed that Shettima defeated his main challenger, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Gambo Lawan in all the councils released so far.
APC scored 530,430 votes while PDP got 17, 595 in the gubernatorial contest.
Collation officers from the remaining five LGAs are yet to turn in their results at about 6pm.
There is an existing curfew imposed on Maiduguri that last from 7pm to 6am in the last three years.
As such, the state returning officer, Professor Yaganami Karta announced the adjournment of the exercise.
