The Chairman of the market, Nasir Dayin told Daily Trust on Saturday that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, but debunked the rumour that it was as a result of power.
However, the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, from Saudi Arabia, has directed his Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Wakil, to assemble the commissioners of Commerce, Home Affairs, Poverty Alleviation and Job Creation to immediately assess the destruction and report to him.
Meanwhile, the state government says it will investigate the fire outbreak at the market.
Governor Zulum, who revealed this when he fielded questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, said “as soon as I reach home, I’m willing to constitute a committee to determine the remote causes of the inferno with a view to averting future occurrences.’
