The First Lady is also has her hands deep in controversies in husband’s home State, Bayelsa. She is at loggerheads with Bayelsa Governor Dickson Seriake over who becomes governor, not through the February, 2015 elections but in advance, of 2016. Before now, Bayelsa which has the least number of local government areas of all the states in the federation, and with the lowest voting power but produced the current president, could not be managed properly by President Jonathan’s household. If the president could not manage his home front, little wonder he may be considered confused in the larger entity called Nigeria. He hopes to win the February Presidential elections, to continue in power? His principal unmaking would be from the home front. The virtual destruction of the PDP in Rivers State was accelerated when she foisted former Minister of State Education, Chief Nyesom Wike as the PDP’s governorship flag bearer for the February, 2015 elections. This, she executed against the preferred good number of many more deserving candidates, mainly Ijaw speaking as her husband; thereby planning that an Ikwerre takes over from an Ikwerre. How possible would this look equitable, fair and honest? Let us see how this plays out, in the next few weeks. Mrs Jonathan should realise that she is not the only first lady in Nigeria’s history and she will not be the last. He conduct will be scrutinised when her husband leaves office.
