Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi, has responded to critics who claim his daughter is rude.
The humour merchant turned filmmaker shared a video on his social media account of his 8-year-old daughter, Elena, watching TV while her mother and brother were cooking in the kitchen.

In the post, Bovi was heard asking his daughter why she wasn’t in the kitchen, he also added that she can’t cook but her brother can. In Elena’s reply, she reminded her father that he also can’t cook.
She said, “I don’t want any drama from someone who also can’t cook.”
Elena’s response, however, elicited several reactions from the comedian’s followers. While a fraction of his followers found the response silly, others opined that she was rude and disrespectful.
However, in response to the public opinion, the 42-year-old funnyman defended his daughter stating that those who found the video funny have emotional stability in their lives but those who felt Elena was rude were triggered because they have been abused while growing up.
He wrote, “How times have changed. I have read all the comments and I’m convinced people see what they want to see. To those who found it lighthearted, you can tell there is emotional equilibrium in your lives.
“They could see that speaking freely doesn’t necessarily mean indiscipline and we were basically on ‘cruise’. As for those who were alarmed, check well, we were raised to think confident use of words amounts to being rude.
“That is why in some places, a younger person asking an older person ‘how are you’ or ‘how nau’ is regarded as being rude. Cheer up.
“You’re triggered because you were abused growing up and you have mistaken being outspoken for being rude. That’s not to say kids can’t be rude. But in this scenario, she wasn’t being rude. Cheer up.”(sic)
