Boy, 15, arrested over culpable homicide in Jigawa
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has apprehended a 15-year-old boy, Ya’u Adamu, of Auno village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area over a suspected case of culpable homicide.
According to Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, Public Relations Officer of the command, the incident occurred last Wednesday at about 11:30 am, when the suspect allegedly beat Barau Aliyu Beli (19), a native of Beli town, with a stick during a confrontation.
He said the altercation reportedly began when the deceased was caught grazing his livestock on a farmland belonging to the suspect’s father, leading to a violent exchange. This exchange resulted in fatal injuries, which led to internal bleeding.
Badaru stated that upon receiving the distress report, NSCDC personnel from the Kafin Hausa Divisional Office responded swiftly and successfully apprehended the suspect at the scene. He said the victim was confirmed dead at about 3:30 pm the following day.

The PRO said that following a preliminary investigation, the case, classified as suspected culpable homicide, has been handed over to the police in Jigawa for further investigation and possible prosecution. He added that the suspect, relevant exhibits, and the case file were officially transferred to the police headquarters in Dutse.
