The Executive Vice Chairman of the Company Mrs. Seinye Lulu Briggs who spoke at the close of the five days programme said her company is fondly called ‘The Good Neighbour’ because of its disposition to always leave  positive imprints in the lives of the people  of the communities within which it operates.
She said the decision to commence the five days free medical program in Uruan even when the company is yet to commence significant operation of its oil Bloc OPL 231is proactive is in line with the management’s belief that he who cares so deeply about the well-being of the neediest and most vulnerable is one who fears God and loves his fellow man.
“It may interest you to know that in carrying out this five days medical mission we are being proactive. We do not yet know how much hydrocarbon-if any-we will find or how long it will take us to find it,” she said.
Mrs. Briggs  said the need to cater for the spiritual needs of the people aside the medical needs was in line with company’s resolve to bring “wholeness to our brothers and sisters in the Niger-Delta region.’’
The state Commissioner for Health Ememabasi Bassey who was represented at the occasion by  a director in the ministry Mr. David Unnang said that due to the proactive measures put in the government no case of Ebola has been experienced in the state.
