At last, the awful and dreadful Sambisa forest is conquered by our audacious, tigerish and leonine troops. This overwhelming victory suggests that our army match can any army in the world.

This also proves the fact that the weakness of our troops was induced by the political class during the last administration. That was the time when they were given inferior weapons and forced to confront the enemy in and around the Sambisa Forest.

In the process, our troops needlessly suffered losses, deaths and deprivation amidst lack of motivation of all kinds.

The Nigerian Army then was a source of disappointment and embarrassment to the nation; that was the time when the media was bombarded with stories of our troops going on AWOL (Absence Without Leave) and on many occasions running away from the battle front, not because they were afraid, but because they were ill equipped and poorly funded by the powers that be.

However, to the admiration of over 180 million Nigerians and our allies all over the world, our military, including the Army, Air Force, Navy and other security agencies are a source of pride and honour.

The mysterious Sambisa, which traverse many states is now demystified. Our dauntless soldiers proved to us that Sambisa was a myth; it was a phobia created by the hideous element. Sambisa is surmountable.

The demogorgons and the monsters or the nightmare scaring the country at large and the North-East in particular are now over. Though there are some remnants of the scoundrel lots scattered in some parts of the country,  their stronghold and backbone is crushed.

The explosions that occur here and there from time to time will be over by the grace of Allah.

The way President Muhammadu Buhari approached the fight against terrorism since he came to power on 29th May, 2015 is commendable.

He has proven to the world that indeed, with steadfastness, fear of God, adequate support for the military and other supporting forces, nothing is impossible and terrorists can be subdued.

One of the most important and significant achievements of this victory is that the roads leading from Maiduguri to Damasak, Monguno and Baga are now clear and accessible to commuters. As a result of this, the famous Baga fish market will soon start witnessing its usual overflow with traders.

These linking roads were being used by marketers from the southern part of this country and neighbouring states to transport fish products. Baga fish market was a major contributor to the economic development of Nigeria in general and that of Borno State in particular.

Here, it is pertinent to mention that Baga was the town where more than 2000 people were butchered by the ferocious miscreants, apart from those who are still missing like the Chibok girls.

Many fishermen were decimated during the infamous attack on Baga and surrounding fishing and farming communities. It was an attack to finish and no one thought that Baga will once again come to fame in the nearest future.

In the midst of frustration, our troops could not face the attackers, for their weapons were much superior and also they were more motivated than our army at the time.

Now, under Buhari, our military is armed with new and sophisticated weapons. They can face any situation no matter how dangerous it may be. We have physically seen some of these weapons on display in Maiduguri during the 1st October celebration by our doughty army.

With the commitment of our president and our troops, Baga is now breathing a new lease of life. The big market at Baga Motor park in Maiduguri Metropolis, where millions of cartons of roasted and dried fish were being transported to the south, will soon revert to its hustle and bustle.

I will therefore avail myself of this opportunity to congratulate Mr. President and his government for their patriotism, determination and dynamism. We, the people of the North-East had witnessed apathy and nonchalant attitude in the past. The issue of Boko Haram was treated with levity. The insurgents were growing day after day; taking villages and towns at will one after the other.

Mr. President you are a great achiever, your slogan “change” is not just a motto, but is a reality. Any government which cannot provide security to its citizens is a failed government, for provision of security should be the first priority of any responsible administration. We are no more in trepidation and apprehension of besetment and onslaught at any time in Maiduguri, Damaturu, Mubi and so on.

Our Army, apart from your intrepidity, you are also our symbol of unity. Therefore, crush any person or group of persons in any part of the country who are anti-unity, peace and progress.

Our gallant Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Lucky Erabo, had mentioned during his media briefing last week that, there were some papers and social media who disseminate frivolous and fallacious news about the performance of our Army. My dignified Commander, don’t be distracted by these unpatriotic and callous elements. We the people of the North-east see your achievements on ground. We hail and cherish you our heroes and we pray for the fallen ones in the service of their motherland. Well done our lionized army. Bring back all our captives.
