Brazil reaches fifth Beach Soccer final

Despite going ahead through Alan, the Portuguese were thwarted from showcasing their usual attacking prowess, with Brazil completing a second period turnaround to see off their classic rivals on the beach.

Portugal opened the scoring when Alan received a pass from Madjer to volley home with his left. The Portuguese demonstrated greater focus throughout the first period, but unable to deepen their lead, let Brazil back into the match at the second period’s start.

Betinho’s powerful shot caught the touch of a Portuguese defender, which was enough to deceive goalkeeper Paulo Graca and level things at one apiece. The goal lifted Brazilian spirits and the South Americans soon found themselves a goal ahead as Sidney hit home a low-drive.

The match was put beyond doubt in the third and final period when Sidney netted his second with a cool chip from close range, while Bruno scored Brazil’s fourth to hand the Portuguese their fourth defeat in five meetings with their rivals.
