A 37-year-old bread seller identified as Kabiru has died in an accident near Kwaita bridge, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

A witness said the incident happened around 2:42 pm on Tuesday when the deceased, who was carrying bread on his motorcycle, lost control and crashed into a trailer parked near the bridge along the highway.

He said the deceased, who left Kwaita village after distributing bread to some of his customers who were mostly tea sellers (mai shayi), was heading to neighbouring Kamadi village when he lost control and crashed into the trailer.

“Actually, we learnt that the back tyre of the motorcycle punctured and he lost control causing him to crash into the trailer, dying instantly,” he said.

He said the corpse had been buried according to Islamic rites.

When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), ACC Shehu Abubakar Dogondaji, confirmed the incident.

He said before his men arrived at the scene, the corpse of the deceased had been taken away by relatives for burial.
