The Federal Government has withdrawn charges of N2.2 billion fraud filed against the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Ahmed Gambo Saleh and two others.

Charged alongside Saleh were the Director of Finance of the apex court, Muhammed  Abdulrahman Sharif and the Chief accountant of the court, Rilwanu Lawal.

The three were charged and scheduled for arraignment on a nine-count criminal charge for allegedly diverting N2.2 billion belonging to the Supreme Court.

Counsel to FG, Hajara Yusuf, on Tuesday told the court the matter was slated for arraignment but she has been instructed to withdraw the charges. She said subject to the convenience of the court, the prosecution will be seeking for the charge to be struck out.

Without objection from counsels to all the defendants, the judge, Justice Abba Mohammed struck out the charges.
