PDP’s Adeleke secures highest votes in Osun election
Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun Governorship election, has secured the highest number of votes in the exercise.
Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun Governorship election, has secured the highest number of votes in the exercise.
The result announced at the INEC Collation Centre in Osogbo showed that the PDP candidate who is the uncle of Music Star, Davido secured 403, 371 votes across 17 Local Government Areas while, his closest rival, incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola, of the All Progressives Congress secured 375, 027 votes in 13 LGAs.
The electoral officials are putting finishing touches to the collation sheet.
Earlier, the Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) assured Nigerians that the election would not be declared inconclusive.
Supervising INEC National Commissioner, Prof Kunle Ajayi, gave the assurance shortly after protesters stormed INEC office to demand that the exercise be concluded on first ballot.
The protesters did not gain access to the collation centre but they vowed to resists any rerun just like it happened in 2018 when the two leading candidates in this election went head to head.
