The bomb disposal unit of the Imo state  Police command have discovered two explosive devices in the Winners Church located along Owerri/Port Harcourt express road Owerri.

Police Public Relation Officer PPRO of the command, DSP Andrew Enwerem confirmed this to Daily Trust in Owerri today.

He said that the two explosive materials were discovered late last night by the bomb disposal unit inside the church where it was planted by unknown person.

He disclosed that the two devices in form of either refrigerator or air conditioner compresor were inside a strange hand bag used in preparing it was found by quick intervention of the bomb disposal unit where it was hidden.

He said: “an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered by the quick intervention of the bomb disposal unit”.

He said that the unit quickly disarmed the two devices and detonated them to avoid harming the  public because according to him it was a timer.

While disclosing the arrest of 6 persons suspected to be behind planting the explosive devices, the PPRO warned the public to be weary of strange hand bags seen arround their houses and churches.

He reminded the public not to hesitate to alert the police of any strange thing happening arround them concerning insecurity.
