Police in Kano have foiled a daylight robbery in the state and arrested two armed robbers, Daily Trust can report.

The robbers stormed a bank around 11 am on Wednesday but could not succeed after police engaged them in a gun fight.

An eyewitness sai, "They came in two vehicles for the operation but unfortunately for them the police spoiled their plans."

Police spokesman in Kano DSP Magaji Musa Majia, said two armed robbers have been arrested.

Majia said the robbers were members of a 5-man gang from Ebonyi state lodged at Power Hotel in Sabon-Gari area from where they planned the spoiled operation.

"The robbers stormed the bank in a Sharan Volswagent and  Handa Bramer. They have damaging the bank but we prevented them from stealing the money. We have arrested two robbers and the remaining three escaped with bullet wounds.

"Our men chased the robbers from the bank up to Kofar Ruwa market where we succeeded in arresting two of them.

"We have dispatched our plane cloth operatives to trail the fleeing robbers. We are still investigating the matter and the two arrested robbers are helping us in that respect," he said.
