The seven-man Committee set up by the Kano State House of Assembly to investigate the authenticity of otherwise of the video clip that portrayed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje allegedly receiving bribe from a contractor has been urged to be cautious in handling the matter.

Similarly, personnel of security agencies have been advised to ensure adequate security to the Editor-In-Chief of Daily Nigeria, Jafar Jafar, who is expected to appear before the committee tomorrow.

A Kano based businessman and politician, Comrade Umar Yusuf Fantiya made the plea yesterday in a chat with Kano Chronicle.

Comrade Fantiya said personnel of security agencies should be vigilant during the sitting so that thugs could not take advantage to storm the venue and launch attack on the publisher.

He said, “I am afraid that something might have happen to Jafar Jafar. We have recently heard what happened to the Saudi/American citizen journalist, Jamaal Kashoogi who was assassinated after he honored an invitation by the security agency in Saudi Arabia.”

He empathised that adequate security should be provided to Jafar Jafar and Kano State House of Assembly, venue of the sitting in order to make the sitting peaceful.

It could be recalled that the seven-man investigative committee has extended invitation to Jafar Jafar to appear before it today for questioning.
