A 23-year-old bricklayer in Osogbo, Osun State, Lukman Moshood, has been accused of defiling a six-year-old minor described as the daughter of his neighbour at the Iludun area of Osogbo.
The mother of the little girl told Eko Trust that Moshood called her daughter under the pretext he wanted to send her to the next building to buy something for him.
The mother of the victim said her daughter was eventually found in the room of the bricklayer and that he had already defiled her.
In a chat with Eko Trust, the little girl said when Moshood took her into the room, he brought out a knife and threatened to kill her if she made any attempt to raise an alarm.
The matter was reported to the Oja-Oba Police Division and later transferred to the family unit of the Osun State police command.
The father of the victim and his relatives had expressed concern with the manner the family unit of the police was handling the case and cried for justice.
A human rights group under the auspices of the Committee for Democracy and Right of the People condemned Moshood’s action and urged the police to ensure that the matter was properly investigated and justice done.
The Secretary-General of the group, Comrade Waheed Saka, said the action was “evil” and must not be swept under the carpet. He promised the group would follow the case to a logical conclusion.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, told Eko Trust that the suspect has been arrested and would soon be charged to court after thorough investigation.
