A delegation of the British High Commission in Nigeria, yesterday, met behind closed doors with some leaders of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Deputy High Commissioner, Lagos, Harriet Thompson, led the delegation to the meeting which took place at Park Inn Hotel in Abeokuta.

The delegates emerged from the over an hour meeting, but declined to speak with journalists.

However, leader of the PDP faction and former governorship candidate of PDP in the state, Hon. Ladi Adebutu told reporters that the commission expressed worry over the state of the nation and met with them as members of the opposition party “to fashion a way out.”

Adebutu, who represented Remo Federal constituency in the seventh National Assembly, said the delegation from the commission came for an interactive session “to know how Nigeria is working and what roles we (opposition party) are playing in the workings of Nigeria and how we can move the country forward.”

According to him, the commission was desirous of helping Nigeria to “build a stable, progressive, fair and just society.”
